This version of our Mini Comic workshop would not have been possible without some outstanding collaborators. It was important to us that we be able to provide drop-in services for young people who weren't affiliated with a particular school or youth center. We met with Eva France and Dierdre Garcia from Open Books for months to build, fund, and showcase our first-ever free-to-the-public workshop series. This time we're splitting duties with Open Books, so we're reading The Promise, the first graphic novel adaptation from the critically acclaimed Nickelodeon series Avatar The Last Airbender while also making a series of pocket-sized comic books! You and your young people can visit us every Wednesday from 1pm-3pm at the UIC Neighborhood Center at 1558 S Hamlin Avenue from July 5th-August 9th. All of our participants will be able to partake in our art exhibit at the Lawndale Pop-Up Spot on Sunday August 16th!
